“It was regrettable. It was kind of an exchange with our fans out in front of us,” Jones stated during a radio appearance. “There was a large group of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, our fans. The entire stadium was brimming with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
He further clarified that the signal was completely unintentional, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I just put up the wrong finger,” he remarked. “It was inadvertently performed. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got resolved rapidly.”

This is not the initial instance an league proprietor has been fined for misconduct. Previous cases involve:
- Panthers owner David Tepper was penalized $300K for tossing a beverage at fans in January 2024.
