Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
